Cal Poly Pomona is the #1 Polytechnic University for diversity and economic mobility. While it’s beloved by those who know it, broader awareness of its unique strengths remains the most prominent issue among university communicators.


As a marketing student assistant, I supported strategic initiatives to elevate the university’s brand by creating engaging digital content, managing social media campaigns, and highlighting student success stories to amplify our reach. I worked closely with the communications team to develop materials that showcased Cal Poly Pomona’s hands-on learning, diverse community, and commitment to upward mobility—helping turn internal pride into external recognition.

Case Study: Streamlining Metadata Audits for Cal Poly Pomona’s Website Refresh


Overview

As part of a campus-wide brand refresh, Cal Poly Pomona’s Strategic Communications team needed to audit and update meta titles and descriptions across hundreds of cpp.edu pages. The work was being done manually, creating major bottlenecks under a tight deadline.


My Role

Brought in during the final stretch, I designed an automated workflow using Google Sheets, IMPORTXML, and OpenAI’s API to reduce manual effort and speed up review cycles.


What I Built

The solution (shown in the GIFs to the right) automated and simplified key steps:

  • Pulled each page’s current meta title, description, and <p> content via IMPORTXML

  • Passed that content to OpenAI’s GPT API to generate optimized metadata in the university’s brand voice

  • Included word and character count checks to stay within SEO best practices

  • Consolidated everything into an editor-friendly format for fast CMS updates


Why It Worked

The system didn’t replace editors—it equipped them. Instead of rewriting from scratch, they reviewed strong first drafts, saving hundreds of hours and helping the refreshed site launch on time with consistent, brand-aligned metadata.

Overview

People remember stories. Whether elevating a student’s journey or echoing the wisdom of a high-profile alumnus, my writing made ideas tangible and memorable.


Across 23+ published articles, executive emails, marketing copy, and internal communications, my writing has helped shape narratives, amplify voices, and bring clarity to complex ideas. My Role
